Coaching Kids and Young Adults to Play Rugby League
Allow us to introduce you to the Pampanga Panthers, the first rugby league team in Pampanga dedicated to promoting and playing this exhilarating sport throughout the province and across the Philippines. Under the guidance of coaches, Ms. China Disonglo and Ms. Sarah Kirby, our mission is to nurture local talent and foster a love for rugby league.
Our journey began humbly, with matches played on open fields in Barangay Sapang Biabas and Barangay Bical, where the enthusiasm of local children grew into a genuine passion for the game. We are proud to nurture over 50 players ranging from 7 to 21 years old across our first-grade and junior teams. The natural talents and potential displayed by our players have garnered attention not only locally but also internationally, particularly from enthusiasts and clubs in Australia (including the Windsor Wolves and Penrith Panthers), encouraging us to strive for greater heights.
Since introducing the sport to the local community and watching them play barefoot, we are honored to now be recognised by the Philippine National Rugby League (PNRL), paving the way for us to compete in domestic tournaments against esteemed teams such as the Manila Storm, Cavite Tigers, and Bulacan Bulldogs this year. The PNRL's affiliation with the Philippines Sports Commission (PSC) and the International Rugby League (IRL) underscores our commitment to achieving excellence in rugby league at both national and international levels.
